if its broke, fix it!

Monday, March 30th, 2009

In this economy, most of us have learned the hard way to cut back on spending a bit.  It seems to be the perfect time to take something old and make it new again, so stop letting your broken watches sit in a drawer!

Some of you may not yet be aware that magnums offers watch repair services, and we think you should be.  Our watchmakers have over 50 years in the business, and they are experts in what they do.  Whether you have a watch that is overdue on its cleaning, a family heirloom that is in need of repair, or a simple battery replacement, we are here to help.  To see a complete list of brands we service, and the repairs we offer, be sure to visit:  magnums.net/watchrepair.

longchamp lovers rejoice – spring has officially sprung

spring_colorsits that time again…the bi-annual introduction of new longchamp le pliage colors!  (i know, i know, you are obviously as excited as we are).  This season, their spring colors are super fun; from mediterranean blue to kiwi green, peony pink, and mandarine orange, they are sure to keep your hearts and eyeballs entertained all summer long.  They even kept graphite, their most popular color from last season, around for your enjoyment.  Great for the beach, a day in the sun, or a trip to the park, le pliage bags are my favorite summer companion.  A true convert from leather bags, I find myself using them more and more.  They seem to just fit into an active, adventure packed lifestyle, and the best part – you can fold ‘em up when you don’t need them, and wash them in the machine when they get dirty!  Check out the new Spring/Summer Le Pliage line at magnums.net.

back to basics – barbour’s spring collegiate collection

Friday, March 27th, 2009

l2200300Classic Barbour pieces from the 1920s, brought back and updated with a modern feel is the look of the 2009 spring/summer collection. Adding small detailes like yellow stitching against black quilted nylon is the spring twist for this season’s garments. Colors like red, orange, soft ivory, and of course lemon yellow (the color of the season) are the main shades for the womens collection while the men boost the basics like gray and olive. Adding the Barbour crest to crisp mens blazers, worn in baseball caps, and classics like the liddesdale, bring back the basics with a collegiate flavor. The womens collection is completed with lightweight and breathable quilted vests (shown, Matt Flyweight Newmarket Gilet, $119) and jackets in crisp and cool colors for the chilly days and breezy nights. And because they’re light weight, Barbour’s spring/summer collection is great for layering or stand alone pieces. My personal pick for this season’s Barbour piece has to be the Ladies Featherweight Valerie Short Jacket in the juicy orange. An original Barbour 1920s design for a trench, this season’s Valerie is cut shorter so it’s a great look and fit for us vertically challenged ladies and makes a great jacket for women blessed with height. Check it out @ Featherweight Valerie Jacket.

A pilot’s best friend is his watch, and every pilot knows that his watch is more than just a watch.  Torgoen pilot watches are able to calculate time, distance, and speed equations and conversions from metric to English.  They also perform currency conversions, multiplication and division problems, and I once heard a rumor that they even help with your teenager’s calculus homework!

Offering fine Swiss movement in neat styles at a truly wallet-friendly price, Torgoen watches are great for pilots or anyone.  Shop for them at www.magnums.net/torgoen.

ostrich and patent and snakeskin oh my!

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

b9gt-bb29300Furla’s spring/summer ‘09 collection whips together basic and classic shapes in gorgeous Italian leather with ostrich embossing, woven patterns, and my personal favorite snakeskin and python prints. Furla brings back their favorites like Greta (shown, $595) in ostrich embossed ivory and china blue as well as Carmen with a leather woven pattern, reminiscent of romantic roses. Furla also brings a new bag into the mix, the Aster. A grande shopper in smooth and luscious leather makes the this the perfect bag for work and play. In vibrant colors and chic leather & chain handle details, this bag is full of style and glam.  Oversized Mimosa patent bow clutches in rich purples and aquamarines round up the collection for those summer parties by the pool. Furla is known to make classic bags in beautiful leathers that never go out of style and are kept for years. This collection is no less and the bags are surely those you will bring back out again, even in the fall and winter months. Prices for small leather goods start at $80 and handbags start at $495.

PS- A new spring/summer collection means that the fall/winter ‘08 styles are on sale! Check them out as quantities are limited. Clearance prices start at $346.
