Nearly 4,000 celebrities fell victim to deepfake technology
A study shows that deepfake-created pornography has affected thousands of celebrities. This research by Channel 4 News revealed that approximately 4,000 famous people were victims of deepfake pornography.
The research covers the five most visited deepfake websites. The research says that these five sites received as many as 100 million views in just three months.
Deepfake pornography is spreading day by day
Unfortunately, deepfake pornography is increasing in direct proportion to global pornography consumption. In the first three quarters of 2023, 143,733 new deepfake porn videos were uploaded to the top 40 deepfake pornography sites; This number is much higher than in previous years.
“It feels bad when they see my fake version”
Channel 4 News presenter Cathy Newman, who was identified as among the victims, said: “This feels like a violation. It feels really bad that someone who put this together could see this fake version of me.”
Of course, it is inevitable that developing technology will have side effects. However, no matter how much technology develops, there is no excuse for producing fake nude images of people who are not even aware of the incident. We hope that we, as the whole world, can gain awareness on this issue.
