YouTube introduced a new moderation tool for content creators, allowing them to stop adding new comments to videos. The feature allows creators to “take a break from moderating comments” while preserving previously posted comments.
In a blog post published Thursday, YouTube noted that the feature provides significant flexibility for creators. Now creators can take a break from overwhelming situations by pausing comments. Previously, creators faced limited options such as disabling comments entirely or holding them for manual review.
According to YouTube’s statement, with this update, content creators now have the opportunity to pause the addition of comments to videos. According to the statement made by the company, this feature is available globally, but no clear information has yet been shared about detailed availability.
Additionally, as part of the announcement, YouTube updated some of the naming of existing moderation settings to make them more understandable. Now users will only be able to choose from simple options such as “On”, “Pause” or “Off”. Additionally, enabling comments will offer the ability to switch between different levels of optional moderation.
The new “pause” option can be found in the video-level commenting settings on the watch page in the YouTube app or in YouTube Studio on both mobile and desktop.
