- A decision has been reached in the case of the inventor of Bitcoin, which is called the Craig Wright case and has been attracting public curiosity for a while.
- The Supreme Court ruled that the Australian computer scientist known as the inventor of Bitcoin is not Satoshi Nakamoto.
- The judge declared that the evidence that led him to conclude that Craig Wright did not create Bitcoin was “overwhelming”.
A decision has been reached in the case of the inventor of Bitcoin, which has been going on for about two months in the United Kingdom and whose outcome was eagerly awaited by the public. A high court judge has ruled that Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, is not Australian computer scientist Craig Wright.
“I made my decision based on strong evidence.”
Announcing the decision after the conclusion of the case, the President of the court, Justice Mellor, said: “After considering all the evidence and submissions presented to me in this case, I have concluded that the evidence is very strong.” said. Miller, who also stated that he would publish a long written decision on the subject, gave the reason for the decision at the first stage as follows: “Dr Wright is not the author of the first versions of the software. Dr Wright is not the person who adopted or operated under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto between 2008 and 2011 and created the Bitcoin system.” made the statement.
Extraordinary events during the trial
The process started when a group of cryptocurrency companies called the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) filed a lawsuit against Wright. Extraordinary events also occurred before the trial began. COPA, whose members include X co-founder Jack Dorsey’s Block, Coinbase and Bitcoin investment vehicle MicroStrategy, accused Wright of fabricating a significant portion of the documents he submitted as evidence.
Following the high court’s decision, a COPA spokesperson made the following statement: “This decision is a win for developers, the entire open source community, and the truth. For over eight years, Dr. Wright and his financial backers lied about his identity as Satoshi Nakamoto and used that lie to bully and intimidate developers in the Bitcoin community. This situation has come to an end today with the court ruling that Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto.”
