According to a post published by Tesla on X, the delivery date of Tesla Cybertruck has been announced. Tesla announced today with its third-quarter earnings that first deliveries of the long-delayed Cybertruck electric pickup truck will be made on November 30 at an event at the company’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. The company is also expected to announce pricing, which was set at $39,900 when first announced in 2019.
During Tesla’s Q3 earnings call Wednesday evening, CEO Elon Musk said he wanted to “temper expectations” because ramping up production for the Cybertruck would be extremely difficult. Musk stated that Tesla is targeting a quarter million Cybertrucks a year in the future, but that won’t happen until after 2024, and confirmed that more than 1 million people have reserved the truck.
Musk said, “We dug our own grave with Cybertruck. Cybertruck is just one of those special products that came out after a long time. And specialty products that take a long time to launch are incredibly difficult to bring to market, reach volume, and be successful.” He made a statement as follows.
Over the past few months, Cybertrucks have started appearing on the roads, all labeled as RC or prototype vehicles for testing purposes. The company had previously said there would be a delivery event by Q3, but that never happened.
Earlier this year, Tesla said that the Cybertruck would go into limited production this summer and mass production would begin in 2024. It looks like Tesla managed to produce at least one Cybertruck at the factory in July.
The Cybertruck was first announced in 2019, but its production was delayed multiple times due to Covid. In this process, the company also missed its first pre-production target in 2021.
