by Jonah Manzano shared Some Facebook users, such as, are now seeing a new “Write with AI” alert in the post creator. Tap this and Meta’s system will offer title suggestions based on your current post text and/or image. So, if you are no longer funny, cunning or witty, you can turn the collective output of the internet into fame by having a tool write your posts for you. This use of artificial intelligence on social media runs counter to the app’s vision of human-to-human interaction. In other words, removing people from the communication process and inserting robots into the mix contradicts the interaction feature offered in the first place.
Each productive AI addition further erodes the essence of social platforms. Since you can access these types of tools outside of social apps, you can create updates like these even if they’re not available in-feed. However, adding these options to the post flow will undoubtedly increase their use for social posts.
Andrew Hutchinson, content and social media manager, says: “Are people motivated to use these types of features to get more likes? The clever and witty answers we copy from applications like ChatGPT may get a lot of likes, but I know I’m not the one writing it. It was a bot and its likes get bots, so what’s the point of having a bot do it for you?”

If businesses use the information produced by artificial intelligence – although it is not currently available – and other users share the answers produced by artificial intelligence, people can gradually move away from social media and become just a consumer in the self-spinning virtual environment instead of being a producing consumer.
As the proliferation of generative AI tools will increasingly diminish actual human interactions, this could make users more skeptical of every interaction and reduce social media engagement, at least in the intended sense.
