We all know Kickstarter campaigns.
There is an innovative product and in order to bring this product to the market, companies open their products for funding.
I discovered an interesting product on this platform, which usually funds computer games, and I wanted to share it with you: PicoBricks, a stem robotics kit powered by micro:bit.
PicoBricks for micro:bit
This product is a product in the field of “education”, which we are not used to seeing on Kickstarter.
The company that launched it is Robotistan. They have organized 2 other campaigns before and their previous campaign was the same product made with Raspberry Pi. And they raised more than 200.000$ from that campaign.
In fact, although it seems a bit raw that they changed the microcontroller of the same product and opened a campaign again, there are some extra innovations.
For example, this kit includes many different educational and fun add-ons.
- Mars Explorer (looks like Mars rovers)
- London Eye (reminiscent of the Ferris wheel in London)
- SafeBox (I think it’s some kind of chest)
- Smart Vase
- Trash Tech (I don’t understand what this!)
- Money Box (Looks like a piggy bank)
It is good that they focus on STEM education. But I would have been more satisfied with a product with a little more effort.
Still, it looks like the best kit made with micro:bit. So micro:bit enthusiasts can support the campaign.
