Martini Rosso is a red vermouth produced by the world-famous Italian Martini Rossi. Prepared according to Rossi’s original recipe developed in the 1860s, the drink’s recipe is a closely guarded secret.
It is among the most popular types of vermouth, which is a type of alcohol obtained by blending a white wine base with a number of botanicals and adding alcohol. The intense herbal character of sweet vermouth, which has an elegant taste, is the result of blending carefully selected wines with more than 50 plants, largely based on Italian botany.
Martini Rosso, which we can describe as a complex selection, is considered one of the first among red vermouths, since “rosso” means “red” in Italian.
Its characteristic dark red color is due to the addition of caramel and it contains 150 grams of sugar per liter. The drink has a fruity, aromatic and herbal profile; It has a bittersweet, complex, rich, soft spicy note. The alcohol content is approximately 15%.
It strikes a perfect balance with salty snacks. For a quick snack, you can pair it with olives or salted almonds. It also goes great with a charcuterie plate containing salami, ham and cheese.
Delicious red vermouth has remained inextricably linked with meals and entertaining moments since 1863.
Usually served as an aperitif, the drink is also used in many cocktails. It is known as an indispensable part of the Negroni cocktail.
