- For years, Google has considered India as one of the most important technology markets and has been investing in it. Now, new ones have been added to these investments.
- Google recently announced that the company will produce smartphones called Google Pixel in India and introduced some financial innovations.
Google has been producing a series of phones under the name Google Pixel with the Android operating system since 2013. These phones, which attract attention especially with their design, performance and suitability for developers, are in demand worldwide, although they are not sold in our country.
Google made a statement last Thursday for the production of Pixel series phones. According to the statement, the company will start producing Google Pixel in India. At the event organized by Google for India, Google official Rick Osterloh said that Google will partner with international and domestic manufacturers for the production of Pixel smartphones.
Google sees India as a key growth market
“India is a priority market for Pixel smartphones and we are committed to bringing the best of our hardware and core firmware capabilities to people across the country,” Osterloh said. The company has not yet given any details about how many smartphones will be produced or where the factories will be located. Although it is the most important, Google’s only investment in India is not the production of Google Pixel phones.
Google, which operates one of the largest payment applications through Google Pay, also said on Thursday that it would tie up with Indian non-bank lender DMI Finance for small loans starting from 15,000 rupees ($180) for those interested in business. The strong push for lending comes at a time when demand for small personal loans is rising in the country. This raises concerns from the Indian central bank.
The company, which has turned to India with both financial innovations and production, is also well received by the government. Finally, we can say that Google’s increasing investments in India, which it sees as one of the most important markets, indicates a very profitable period for the company.
